Mountain Zebra
Mountain Zebra can be found in South Africa
and can be distinguished from Plains Zebra by
the thin and close-together vertical black
stripes on its neck and torso. Its stripes,
compared to other zebra, do not continue
under its belly. Mountain Zebra graze primarily
on grasses but will eat leaves and bark as
well. They are most active during the early
morning hours and late afternoon.

Plains Zebra
The Plains Zebra is more widespread and abundant than other zebra being found in Sudan and Southern Ethiopia to Eastern Africa as well as Zambia, Mozambique, and Malawi. The Plains Zebra tend to have broad black stripes.
